NYUK Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 what kind of solvent? a parts washer? why risk it. Quote
wood Posted September 17, 2007 Author Report Posted September 17, 2007 ya its a parts washer the guys hear at work have one, from what you said there must be different grades of solvent, let me ask them how strong theres is. Quote
bk_banshee Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 Yes it will eat at your finish. Depneds on how long you leave them in and how storng the solvant is. Another thing to think about is that the solvant could get under the chrome if you have some small pitts and once back on the bike it will boil and chrack the chrome. If your terying to clean them use a rag and some acetone. If you want a new Finish you can have them Re-chromed $300. Quote
wood Posted September 18, 2007 Author Report Posted September 18, 2007 i was thinking about cleaning the inside of the pipes. Quote
NYUK Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 no solvent will take off the carbon. any benefits from dipping them in a parts washer will be minimal. anything short of sand blasting won t do much. Quote
FireHead Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 It really depends on what solvent is in the tank. Quote
