jedsled Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 i have an 89 banshee that has developed a "knocking" sound which i cant tell whether its coming from the clyinder or bottom end. i took it to a shop and they listened to it and thought that it might be the wrist pin bearing. if it is the wrist pin bearing, am i gonna need a new connecting rod/ crank as well as a complete new top end? any other thoughts on this? thanks! If it is just the wrist pin bearing, you shouldn't need a new connecting rod just a new wrist pin unless it damaged the rod in the process of coming apart. But, coming from experience, if it is the bottom end you need to get that thing apart and see. You can probably see the crank rod bearing with the top end off. It also could be your crank coming apart... Quote
