99Banshee Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Hey guys.. my buddy has a 2001 banshee, he was riding it then the next day nothing. It's not getting any spark so I took off the the cdi, coil and stator one at a time and pluged them in on my shee and they all seemed to work.. I got the old test light out and it lights off the wires comming out of the stator. I cant seem to be able to figure it out... Thanks ~Rich Quote
99Banshee Posted August 30, 2007 Author Report Posted August 30, 2007 There is also no power coming off of the orange wire that comes out of the cdi to the coil Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 so you removed the cdi coil and the stator from his bike and put it on yours and it fired up right? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 what about your plugs? on the bike that doesnt run... you replace them? how much of a gap does the pickup have on it? Quote
99Banshee Posted August 30, 2007 Author Report Posted August 30, 2007 yah we replaced the pluges with mine, dont know the gap.. all I have is a test light, It gets power out from the coil but when It gets to the cdi nothi ng comes out Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 i thought you said you put the cdi on your bike and it ran? or was it your cdi on his bike and it ran? Quote
99Banshee Posted August 30, 2007 Author Report Posted August 30, 2007 I took off the cdi off of his bike and put it on mine and it ran.. sry shits pissing me off.. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 humm, ok so this doesnt make sense. you tested the power from the stator and its good. then you tested the power from the cdi and nothing. you put that same cdi on your bike and it runs? Quote
99Banshee Posted August 30, 2007 Author Report Posted August 30, 2007 Yah.. its not making any sence to me eather. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 maybe you got a short thats grounding out? im not an electrican so i dont know if a short could ground out all that power or not but thats the only thing thats sticking out right now... rather then taking his parts to your bike... go the other way.. take your parts one at a time to his... and start elemenating it that way.. maybe you wil find that its a wire or connector or something Quote
99Banshee Posted August 30, 2007 Author Report Posted August 30, 2007 I already tried that yesterday and nothing happend.. im tired of working on it today so ill. try at it again tommarow Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 so through the process of elimination you where not able to put a finger on what the cause was? Quote
99Banshee Posted August 30, 2007 Author Report Posted August 30, 2007 (edited) Nope.. Edited August 30, 2007 by 99Banshee Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 (edited) lol it sounds like you are doing something backwards lol... it doesnt make any sense that it has 0 power on his bike but does on yours. maybe his wiring harness is f'ed? where did you test the cdi output from? the wires going to the coil?
