DK95 Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 (edited) Ok, I'm a new Banshee owner, we also have 3 Blasters, and a 50 Raptor for the little guy....anyway my ride is an 05 with full Toomey, reeds, modified air box, Stage 2 jets, moose boost, UNI filter, it is an absolute dog putting around and on trails. The far mid to top range is scary, however even in 5th at full rpm I hit 6th and it bogs sometimes....also the throttle sticks some times too, the throttle is released but the bike keeps haulin till you hit the brakes..... I love the looks, and sound of the bike, but it needs a lot more low end for trails and bowls, the guy that had it before me strictlly ran it on the pavement and what I have stated as mods is what he has told me .....any help would be appreciated. If I pull a hole shot and have the rpm's up it hauls until 6th, otherwise it s a dog at low speed until the power band hits (about 20 yrds lol)....thanks Edited August 20, 2007 by DK95 Quote
dajogejr Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 Find out exactly what jetting is in the carbs. Stage 2 means nothing. It's probably a little off on the bottom end. What gearing are you running? There are several mods you can do to make a banshee trail worthy..but to be honest...a 450 is a better trail machine. Quote

Possibly try a richer main jet, if that yields no results than richen up the needle. Thats assuming the gearing isn't too tall. Quote

Thats assuming the gearing isn't too tall. It still has the stock tires and wheels on it (85% tread left), I'm assuming it has the stock gearing (14-41) guess I need to start counting-lol, I was thinking on going one tooth smaller on the coutershaft no matter what.....and I'll check what jets it actually has..... DK95 Posted November 7, 2007 Author Report Posted November 7, 2007 Well been awhile, but I noticed the factory air filter was deteriorating around where it sealed up to the air box. I replaced it with a Pro Design Pro Flow Airbox Filter Kit . It required a little drilling but no big deal, I also installed an outerware cover. The shee runs perfect, has way more punch on the low end, the throttle/carbs don't stick anymore at full throtle and I can run in 6th gear without bogging....go figure......now the girlfriend bent the tie rods and a rotor, so putting a used rotor and the Moose heavy duty tie rods with ball joints.......man I love that bike  she need to stick to her Blaster....LOL Quote
