Raoul Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 I have a pair of stock bore Wiseco pistons. They are still in good shape, and my buddy is about to re-do his Banshee's stock top end. Would it be O.K. to use my old Wiseco pistons on his bike, if we put new rings on them and hone his cylinders? Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 if you realy want to be a cheep ass then yes, you can re-use them as long as you clean them up realy good, mic them and mic the jug's to make sure the clearances are within tollerance, use new rings and whatnot. i say get new pistons but if cash is in that short of supply they can be re-used. my question would be why you have a good set of stock bore pistons laying around. usualy you smoke them before you replace them... unless you went big bore on a whim... and why is your buddy re-doing his stock top end if it's still running good? trading stock pistons from a running bike for wisecos isnt worth the effort imo. and if he smoked his yours more than likley arent any good to him anyway...i'm just confused about why you would take the time and money to swap out stock ( i'm guessing still running) pistons for used aftermarket pistons. doesnt make any sense to me... 370banshee Posted August 4, 2007 Report Posted August 4, 2007 personally i never understood why anyone uses std bore wisecos.. hers why a stock piston uses a piston-wall clearnce of .005-.008 a wiseco uses a clearance of .003-.005 so..... even if you had a "tight" set of jugs from the factory.. you'd be at the edge of tolerance with the wisecos... does wiseco make thier pistons .002 bigger? you;d better MIC the std pistons and the wisecos and compare before you do anything with them.. that kind of the "cheap ass" way of doing it.. but whatever works for ya i guess Quote
