air filter is soaked

i didnt want to post this, but since i was unable to run a search. here i am posting this.

 

my porblem is that i have alot of oil in the air box and obviously all over the air filter.

does anyone know or can try to explain to me why that would happen. and what can be done to fix it. i know it cant be normal. please help. its been one thing after another since i rebuilt my bike.

i didnt do any motor work. during the rebuild i was just just replacing what i broke from my accident. when i took the motor off the frame i had to remove the carbs.

it could have been that at one point the box was filled with you gas, which evap'd leaving the oily residue? maybe

stood it up in the bed of my truck so we can get 2 quads in bed. i make sure the gas is off when i stand it up.

before you tail stand it, pull the choke and run that sucker outa gas.

Yeah even though you turned off the gas the carbs still have gas in them just run the gas out then turn it on the side.

that is your problem... happened to me also. Clean out your air filter, and next time, make sure the carbs are outta gas
