with pods, Id run a 280 and do a plug chop. You might end up between 280-300 on the main. Probably 280 with those reeds. Every bike is different. Your bottom end is going to suck more with T5`s over stock. Get an advancable timing plate for bottom end and check your compression. A 25 main is fine. In colder weather you might need a 27.5 2 turns out or whatever, but not in 75-85 temps. Also your airscrew isnt going to adjust your idle, you need to drop your slides down with the adjuster on the tors or if they`re eliminated, your brass idle screws. Dont go by the color or consistancy of your plugs without doing a proper chop wot gear 1-6 with new plugs. Warm up the bike good,... WARM,... not idle for 2 minutes. take out your old plugs, put in the new ones with the old ones in your pocket or something without burning yourself, statr it up and rip it 1st through 6 wide open all gears then pu the clutch and shut off the motor without a chance to idle n roll to a stop bike off, then put the old plugs in and cut the threads off with a hack saw. About 2mm up from the base you should have a,... a coffee with cream and sugar brown. If its to light, bigger main, to dark, smaller. After you fix that, adjust your needle, then your pilot. Do one at a time, you cant tune a carb that well doing a bunch of adjustments at once.

cut like this guy did....

ok, i'll do the chop tomorrow after i install some 280s.

so to adjust idle i need to lower the slides. then what is the airmixture screw for? stock is 2.0 turns out, boyesen recommends 1/4 to 1/2 turn in, because of the reeds? how many turns should i have on this thing??

I ran your exact setup about a year and half ago. I ran a 280 main, stock 25 pilot cant remember where the needle was or the air screws. You do not need a bigger pilot though. You should be close where you are just try fine tuning with the needle and air screws.

k, i got the bottom end figured out. 1.25 turns on the mixture, and the idle is set real low. works great coming out of the corner. i also put in the 280 main, then the 290, and it "feels" like it still wants more, so i'm going to try a 300 tomorrow or thursday and see how that goes. the front end just lifts way up everytime i pin it now haha

still have the question about having fuel in the overflow tubes...is it normal to have some in there? it doesn't drip on the ground or anything, but there is always about 1/2" worth of fuel in there ((shrugs!!))

well i figured out the fuel in the overflow tubes. seems it's normal. above spec and the fuel pours out, below spec and the fuel pours out. within spec and there's always some in the tubes...so must be OK.

i'm up to a 310 main now, but i'm going to have to do a plug chop, i've gotttttta be rich. no loss in performace though compared to the 280, at least not noticeable ((shrugs)) hopefully have this thing set up shortly.
