skylor Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 Ok I just picked up my 02 banshee yesterday. My buddy also has a banshee and I noticed his leaked antifreeze out the overflow which I hear is a normal banshee thing. well anyway we went riding today and I noticed that mine leaked alot more than his like I notice his spitting a little bit here and there well mine pours for a few seconds after I park to take a break. I aslo noticed that his overflow tank(under the seat) is almost completley empty mines above the halfway mark Idk if the kid that had it before me filled the radiatior too much? or if he just poured it directley into the overflow thinking thats where you fill it? idk I just want to know if it's a problem that it pours out instead of just a little bit here and there? Also I noticed that my axle isn't tightend down like I can move my axle about an inch back and forth inside the carrier the kid put a durablue I think thats what it is but anyway I tried lossening them and I couldn't which way do you have to turn it? and what would keep it from loosening? I think thats about it for now unless I find something else wrong with it (I'm praying that I don't) other than these minor problems this is a pretty mint shee it runs great and looks great to match except for the back fender on the right theres a big stress mark where he rolled it but other than that I think it's be hard to find a nicer one thats damn near original for that year. but anyway I'll keep you updated. Glad to be apart of BansheeHQ and the Banshee world. Quote
theshee Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 I wouldnt worry about the coolant too much. Just check it in the radiatior and make sure its full. My wifes leaked until the resi was at low and hasnt leaked since. On the axle just tighten the locknut till you lose the play in it. It prolly wasnt tightened down very good and it just came loose. skylor Posted July 14, 2007 Author Report Posted July 14, 2007 The thing is is that I can't get th to loosen so I can't tighten them. I reafed the hell out of it and it still wouldn't loosen up I tried heating it and everything? Quote
theshee Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 Is there two nuts? You have to loosen the outside one before the inner one will move if its like a stock axle. The outside one is a jamb nut and wont let anything move unless its loose. Quote
skylor Posted July 14, 2007 Author Report Posted July 14, 2007 Yep theres two nuts and the outside ones the one I can't get off I'm farmiliar with this setup so I made sure I was only on the outside one but she's stuck there. Also which way do I turn that nut do I go towards the front(up) or do I go towards the back(down) Quote
theshee Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 Not real sure without seeing it in person, but I think if you were behind the bike you would pull toward you to loosen it. Be careful you dont strip the axle or youll be getting a new one. They can be a bitch to get loose, my stocker was really stuck on there. I took the nut off it with an airhammer. Quote
theshee Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 Figure out for sure what way you need to turn it, hit the nuts with a hammer to loosen them up, heat them and try to get them off... If it still wont move get an airhammer and try to turn them off with that.... if that doesnt work, i dont know, never had on that stuck before... good luck! Quote
