sh99ee Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 hey everyone this is my first banshee. its a '99 fmf gold series fattys w/powercore II silencers, white bros boost bottle, and k&n's. i believe stock carbs and reeds. i bought it in may and it ran awesome and would idle for days. but i wanted to jet it for higher elevation (im at 4800 and wanted to jet for roughly 6000-8000). so i pulled the left carb bowl off and checked to see where my jets were at. my main is a 250. put it back together and it took forever to start and then i couldnt get it to idle at all. and if u babied the throttle to roughly half and let off it would act like it was still revving! so i took both carbs off and cleaned the piss outta them and it didnt help at all! and it will kinda pop and backfire sometimes. but i didnt change anything just turned the carb to check the jets and walked into this nightmare. any ideas??? Ruko Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 There is a tube that goes between the 2 carbs for the choke.. make sure it is still there and on properly. It doesn't have any clamps or anything so if you took off the carbs it may have just fallen down onto the trany. I have seen that happen more than once and it will act just as you said. Quote
sh99ee Posted July 14, 2007 Author Report Posted July 14, 2007 u dont happen to have a pic of this do u? Quote
Ruko Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 u dont happen to have a pic of this do u? Sry I don't have stock carbs anymore... It is easy to see though. Just take off the seat and look down in between the carbs. There should be a hose that crosses over in between them in line with the choke slide on the outside of the left carb. If it's not there you will see the little nubbs where it should be. A friend of mine took his carbs off a couple weeks ago and didn't know about that hose. It just fell down onto the trany. You should be able to put it back on without takeing the carbs back off if you find it. If not just get a little piece of hose to put between them... it is about 5/16 or 1/4" and about 3" long. Quote
sh99ee Posted July 14, 2007 Author Report Posted July 14, 2007 yea i found it. it made the world of difference. wow damn hidden lines. thanks man Quote

Sounds like the slides are on the wrong sides or you did not get your cables back in place quite right. If you twisted the cable, it can throw off your carb sync. take filter out and make sure cut away on bottom of slides is visible at the back of the slide. Also make sure both slides come up at the same time. You have a very simple problem and one that carb cleaning won;t fix. You have a tune problem. There is a washer on the main jet too, make sure you put it back in because it WILL affect jetting. Brandon Quote
