WALLACE84 Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I finally got my top end setup today and was wondering where the best place would be to send them out for drag porting and nikasiling? I know Jeff but hes too busy for me. Cant wait that long. Whos the a runner up? thanks Quote
bansheefreak Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 (edited) i think everybody is busy this time of yr.. hell it takes a long to just get nikasil plating.. so just go to search biulders here and planet sand and start calling till you happy with what you hear.. badassbanshee479 Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 http://www.usnicom.com/ try these guys! they have a rush service on getting plating done, if ya wanna spend alittle extra. I think your best be would be to, get the cylinder replated for now and send it in for porting when some of the builders slow down. Your bike will still rip! Oh and I have not had any luck with millennium technology's either! The plating in my cub chipped one time, and they did not chamfer the ports worth a crap another time. And they would not stand behind there work. Quote
dajogejr Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Honestly...wait to drag port it. It is already drag ported from the factory....if the jug is already cleaned up (intakes and transfers are cleaned up) just get it replated. I can clean up the cylinder for you if not. And if you want...I can port match the cases, I just need the top half. Up to you.... In my opinion...after a good clean up port, you can probably get a 3 to 7% increase in HP with a drag port...from the right guy. Jeff being one of them. What makes a cub so good is the porting out of the box, the casting flaws and flashings just need to be dealt with... If this is gonna be your duner, don't get drag porting....leave it as is, get a modest compression...170 to 190, and give it a lot of timing. Also...you absolutely MUST check squish on these cubs. I recommend .040 to .050.... My old 4 mil cub on gas was a great motor.... Quote
WALLACE84 Posted July 13, 2007 Author Report Posted July 13, 2007 Its not going to be my duner anymore. Im just going to do what JT did and make it a dragger then have my 2000 to play around on. My stuff is going to jankabs house pretty quick so if you are over there alot, or feel like going over there when my motor is there, then that would be kool if you could match the ports on the cases and clean it up for me. I will obviously throw you money too. Let me know. Thanks Quote

I'm due to get over to his house and help him about a bit... If he doesn't have time, I'll clean up the cylinders for you...no prob... Quote
WALLACE84 Posted July 13, 2007 Author Report Posted July 13, 2007 Yea that sounds good. I will PM you here after I get my cylinders back. Jankab wants to start on my trans so im going to be sending that down to him and after my cylinders get back, everything else will go too Quote
rocketboy Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 an engine builder that is careful and knows what hes doing can port a nickel plated cylinder without nicks or flaking ...it takes the right bits at the right speeds with the right lubricants. while some may disagree ,fro m what ive seen on a cubs port layout i would opt for a full port over just a clean up version ...they have lots of room for improvement i n a few key areas .it can mean 8 more hp which is a bike or two in 300 feet . ive also seen pics of cubs where some builders just grind a couple flashings out of the transfer ports and dance a buff wheel around the intake and call it a "drag port" keep in mind alot of builders are busy now so be pateint Quote
