I am trying to remove the primary drive gear off my old HR crank. I have the nut and the first small gear already off, but the larger gear which is held in by the square pin wont come loose. I tried to pry it loose from behind with a screwdriver pretty hard, but it wont move. Is there anything special that needs to be done to get this thing off???

the chain drive or clutch side? try to heat it with a propain torch, or a small gear puller.

try pushing the pin in with a punch..just tap lightly or you will be buying another one.. also as you are tapping pull on the gear a little. don

I tried this and it would not budge!! I then tried to heat it by torching it for 3 mins or so and it still did not budge :banghead:

I think the pin might be wedged in there and causing it to be stuck!! it looks pretty straight, but I can see where it might be wedged a little on one side of the pin??

I hope I didn't damage the gear while trying to remove it. If I did does anyone have a good one for sale ?
