The Faster Cracker Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 (edited) ok so i got an o6 shee that needs some more go fast stuff on it. gonna stroke it. questions: 1.) im gonna put the 4 mil stroker with 5mm long rod in it from hot rods. do i need to have it welded or does it come welded already? 2.) is there anything else like bearings and such i need to replace while i am in there? 3.) what else does installing this stroker require me to do? can i still run everything else stock besides jetting and such? 4.) do i need to do any modifications to install this? 5.) with just the stroker can i still run pump gas? i would sure appreciate yalls help on helping me stroke it! bentvalve Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 i am far from the resident expert.lol. but i just went nutzo on my banshee. i bought it,never rode it.shortly after i purchased it i started buying stuff. well it ended up being a full on build. got fresh cylenders ported out and matched (i guess so you do not have to run the spacer plate. got a cool head w/custom domes, cpi small bore inframes,35 pwk's,adj timing, nice billett intakes,v-force 3 reeds, upgraded clutch(from f.a.s.t.) billett water pump impeller,oh yeah the 795 series pistons and stroker crank(mine was welded and trued)just got a billet clutch basket, oh yeah another good buy would be a case saver! also got new front suspension/leager a-arms and elka triple rate piggybacks. so yeah i dumped alot of cash in this thing. now i need to get new wheels and tires and a rear shock!! but im just about ready to put the engine back in, and run it till the other stuff gets in. i think this thing will fly! don Quote

You should have a builder re-weld it. hotrods comes welded but it sucks 2.seals and maybe your impeller bearing, but with an 06 you should be ok 3.everything as in boltons you can run stock. but you will need 795 series pistons for the long rod. and your head needs to be cut for the extra stroke. look into a coolhead. 4.your jugs will need to be reported to change the port timings. octane all depends on your compression and timing. The Faster Cracker Posted June 6, 2007 Author Report Posted June 6, 2007 ok a few more questions: 1.) i want to keep this build as much as a bolt on as possible. if i go without the 5mm longer rod will i have to cut my head and get porting? i will get porting eventually but just not in the budget right now. 2.) will i have to get the cool head now without the 5mm rod? 3.) if i have to go with the cool head which domes should i get? im not looking for more compression. still want to run pump gas if possible. can i go wiht the 22cc domes or is there a sepcial dome to use wiht the short stroker kit? 4.) i have fmf gnarly headers. i know these arent the best pipes in the world probably for this setup but the question is can i still run them and not dmage the new motor? 5.) if i go wiht the short stroker can i still use the stock pistons? thanks in advance for all yalls help Quote
