Jeepguy Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 Hi Guys, I'm planning on leaving for attica tomorrow, and REALLY don't want to take the EX.. Anyway I had problems with my shee backfiring at top speed (or WOT) so I pulled the carbs, checked the reeds cleaned everything out really good, Oh and checked my compression (It's fine) anyway After I got the Quad back together I took it out and now it takes of fine (No BAckfires) and sometimes hits the power band in first, but never in any other gear, or if it does it's just for a second Anyway I can poke around on it and it does fine also it idles and revs fine, and I can drive it kind of slow then hit the gas and it runs really well for a second then falls on its face likes It's starving for fuel or I turned the switch off, I let of for a second and it comes back around ( So does this sound familiar to anyone? Is it the TORS, or could it be the petcock restricting the fuel flow? Also I read another guys blog that said he had his slides in backwards, Could that be it? I'm running out of ideas.. Thanks for your help Quote

And if it is, Replace the cap? What it feels exactly like is a Turbo Mustang I once had, as long as I was in the gas easy it done OK, but soon as I would spool the turbo hard it would suck close my intake tube and the car would fall on it's face.. Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 how's the color on the plugs? it sounds like you are running a little lean. Also how is the fuel flow out of the petcock? did you clean the jets out when you had the carbs apart? Quote

Also how is the fuel flow out of the petcock? did you clean the jets out when you had the carbs apart? Plugs are a little white, so I'm pretty sure it's lean, but I'm wondering if it's because of the bogging or lack of fuel? I'm checking fuel flow first thing today. cleaned the jets Quote
