my buddy just bought a banshee and is having some trouble with it.

when revving the motor, it bogs and wont rev very high.

we think his clutch has something to do with it cause it lost adjustment (clutch doesnt pull in) at the same time all this happened.

its a mod quad see through cover and lock out clutch and when we move the clutch lever on the motor we only see 2 of the things move.

 

the bikes ran fine for a few hours and then this just happened out of no where.

 

he has pipes, pod filters, heads and lock out clutch

Clutch problems wouldn't affect how the engine revs since the clutch is all about getting the engine power to the wheels. Do you have TORS still? If so, get rid of that. Check that you have exhaust coming out both pipes - pressure should be about equal. Let us know and we'll see from there.

so you got the rev problem figured out?

 

How is it slipping? Is the engine cycling while you're pushing it? Does it push the same with the clutch lever pulled in as when the clutch is engaged?

the rev problem was the parking brake wire were touching

 

but now we have a serious problem the clutch arm on the motor some how got twisted in a 360 (wtf?!)

the metal is bent and all ugly

I haven't heaqrd of that happening before. Can you post a pic of what you are fighting with? I think that is going to be the best way to get help from me. Maybe one of these other guys with more experience can help without pics.

well we figured out what happened.

the push rod and that ball inside the clutch welded itself together.

how often does that happen and is there any way to prevent it?

 

also theres a problem with it running. it wont start from kicking over it as to be pushed and when it is running it doesnt idle and revs high at times and bogs a lower throttle.

Usually that only happens when there is not enough free play in the clutch adjustment. Try to keep an eye on that.

Or riding fast with the clutch pulled in (such as you might do when going down a large hill). Either scenario will weld the rod and ball together. There's a kit out there to replace it with a pancake bearing to eliminate this problem. Or you can just modify your riding habits.

sounds like an air leak, check your intake boots

 

are your tors disconnected? Little black box in front of the fuel petcock, disconnect that and see if it goes away

i read that there is a vacuum line that connects to both carbs would it bog if that wasnt there?

 

It's the choke tube, that connects the left carb, to the right one, and yes, it will cause all kinds of problems, if it's missing, or leaking. I left it off once, and the only way to get the motor started, was to pull start it, and it still ran like crap, until the choke tube was put back on.
