01blckbansh Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 hey guys, this coming winter i plan on rebuilding my banshee motor. i want to send my cyl. to FAST and have them ported. the play/dune port. i do alot of woods riding but we also line them up for some drags. we have alot of 4pokes and bikes that ride with us. i don't want to do anything to agressive but i also want ot be one of the quickest we ride with. since i'm going to have the motor apart should i go ahead and put a 4 mil stroker crank in or just do the porting? i shouldn't have to mod the cases for the 4 mil should i? my current mods : bored .20 , reeds and reed cages, clamp on K&N's , fmf fatty's , power core 2's , 300 mains , 27.5 pilots, new needles in the third clip. any help would be great. oh , if i had to change pipes i would if helps the mods i'll be doing. Bansh-eman Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 well if you can afford it do the stroke... but you can just drop in a stoker.. you got to have it ported, your head has to be cut. your going to need new pistions for a long rod crank, the crank needs to be welded , your going to need bigger carbs, and then if your pipes dont match you will need to get new pipes.. with a port job you will make some major gain but you still need to get pipe for it.. t-5 will be your best bet. bigger carbs wouldnt hurt either... but dont go too big. before yo spend the money stat looking intot he older posts on here this ha been covered a 1000 times... gather all the knowledge you can thenm make your decison based off that instead of just a lil hear say , here and there. Bansh-eman Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 (edited) it depends on what you already have on the bike and what you want to get out of it... keep in mind you can spend 10,000 bones on the motor if your suspension cant handle the motor your going to get beat by a stock bike... the suspension is pretty much your most expensive upgrade... so im going to assume you already have a suspension... 2500 dollars you can build a very nice motor... carbs pipes reeds head crank clutch swinger....... your not looking at cubs with your riding but dont worry stock jugs can make some very nice power... id say look into a 4mil crank, some 30-35 PWK carbs, Vforce 3 reeds, Coolhead with domes to run the gas your looking to run for your alt, T-5 pipes, porting, pistons, clutch ( get a magnum basket much cheaper then hinson), clutch plates, swinger, chain, tires... try to find some used pats and save some money... there are plenty of thing on h ere and PS for sale that you can use... EDIT: if your interested, im going to be selling my cylinders with 795 series pistons, here very soon... they would be ready to run. Edited May 2, 2007 by Bansh-eman Quote
