stovepipe Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Bought a set of used T 5 pipes and silencers. Do I need to get the Toomey or Dyno jet needles to make it run right. Anyone have a good set up without buying a $60.00 dollar jet kit ? My shee is stock with Weisco pro lites and boyseen two stage on stock blocks at sea level . Quote

Anyone have a good set up without buying a $60.00 dollar jet kit ? My shee is stock with Weisco pro lites and boyseen two stage on stock blocks at sea level . they will work with stock needles, but the dynojet ones have a better taper for those pipes. I found a spare set of needles for $10 on here. Try posting in the wanted section or sometimes people sell those kits on ebay for cheaper. Quote
alano64 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I just installed my t5s. I went to the local powersports store and bought 280 mains for like 3 bucks a piece. I used the stock needles but put them on the 4th groove from the blunt end because people on here recommended it. I put her back together and it started on the first kick. It runs excellent and is sooooo much faster. You gotta get a proflow with no lid too. It doesn't quit pulling so fast the power just keeps coming. Quote

I went on Dyno jets Web and they only offer neddles specific to FMF pipes , What part number needles should I get ?? Quote

dajogejr Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Those needles were really designed for those who run no airbox, which creates a lean spot in the middle... These needles are thinner yet longer, allowing the mid to richen up a bit. Are they necessary? Nope...if you can find 'em cheap, pick some up. I called Toomey and they wanted like 25 per needle new. When I had stock carbs, I found the jet kit (270 mains and 280 mains, with needles) on clearance at Magic Racing for 29.99... I wouldn't sweat it though. You can get similar needles from Vito's Performance as well... Quote

I was going to enter an almost identical post. I have a '96 and bought a used set of T-5's and wanted to know about running them with stock jets. Wow. Same question. It won't hurt anything? Cool!!
