six rack pack?

im thinking of buying a six pack rack. found a real nice one alminum and polished. looks real nice. anyways what do yo all think of them? looks and function wise? anyone that has one and can tell me about it i would appreciate it.

deffinatly a function over fassion thing, I keep one for long trips, otherwise it hangs on the garage wall, cause they are big & fugly!

i agree, and was considering doing the same thing if i get one.

i had one, the armadillo one with the little gallon gas tank. it broke or helped break my banshees frame. Broke it right around the grab bar mount. My silencer snapped at the stinger tube when the frame broke. the Banshee was 12 years old tho, an '88 model. I almost always had the gallon gas tank full cause i'd burn through the gas so damn fast. I liked the rack till it broke my frame :biggrin: . It was big and ugly tho, but I didnt care at the time, I wanted that extra gas can feature. Another big problem with the rack was it was in the way of my silencers. There was oil buildup all over the rack, the fmf PC2 silencers blew right at the rack. It was so wrong and ugly. The side of the rack had a little shield welded on to protect the gascan from the hot exhuast. The fmf silencers angle the gas downwards so that helped some, but the gap between the end of my silencers to the back of the rack was literaly one inch. If you have silencers that shoot the exhaust straight back and not downward, you'r gonna have an oily rack, not to mention a big peice of metal one inch from the exhaust. The design of the rack concerning the exhaust silencers is one of the worst design flaws I'v ever seen.

yep, thier great for the one gal tank . i don't know anyone who actually uses them as a "six pack" carrier though.

Here is a link to DOTD's bike that he sold a couple of months ago. I though his bike looked good with the six pack rack on it. His was an AC bumper. I was thinking about buying one for my bike so that when I go to the St. Anthony dunes I can throw it on for that trip.
