lazierhobo Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 ok so i just put on my 38mm single carb set up with reed spacers, and im trying to figure out how im going to run an air filter. i would really like to be able to use some part of the air box, because most of the riding i do is pretty wet. does anyone have any pictures of what they have done? the carb sits pretty far back, even with taking the front piece off the air box, i still cant get it into place. what kind of luck have people had with outerwear's and mud? im feeling that an airbox is still necessary, but i dont really have any experience running without one? thanks Ben Quote
firstbanshee Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 If your trail riding without a air box it's a gamble. You possibly could double up on outer-wares but that may restrict air flow. You possibly could fabricate the existing stock box by cutting half of the sides off and half of the back side. Thus reducing your chances of air cleaner saturation from water and mud. It won't eliminate the risk but greatly reduce possible damage. Any way you go a visual inspection should be made after every ride or encounter with heavy mud/water. Hope this helps a little.. Quote
firstbanshee Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 O hey try and hit up Hollister_Hitman on here. He has a very similar setup and trail rides a lot. He will be a better help to you. Quote
letsgetthisdone Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 (edited) If you can weld aluminum, run a clamp-on filter and fabricate a box to go around it  Edited April 3, 2007 by letsgetthisdone Quote
