Arms Questions .......

Im looking to get into a wider machine but, Im not coming up with much for my j-frame or whatever you wanna call it ........ Im not big into the banshees but, I always wanted one & now i just put some fresh Kandy Violet paint on it & people suggested that i weld it for for accepting newer arms................

 

Forget that ............. Cant i just make my own arms using a Jig or something to go off of when welding everything back up ?????

 

Im good at fabrication - I build & Hop lowriders so ,,, I know about reinforcements to frame & suspension , Im handy with the welder & My fab skills are good...........

 

 

 

What type of steel & that should i use for doing so ......????( these stock arms look like mild steel to me )

 

 

I will weld on the stock ball joints & that unless you guys know where to get different ones....

 

 

Should i move the arms 1''+ forward & Extend them 1'' or 1.5'' each side ........

Be carefull when you start making your own setups. Not that you cannot do it but it is an exact science to get them ligned up. You dont want stress on the ball joints, or any other place that will snap when under stress. J-arm banshee are not as strong as the a-arm to begin with. If you have the ability i would convert yours to an a arm.

I use to have a j-arm bike and recently converted to a-arms their +2 all hiemed steering and D.O.M tubing pm me and i will send you some pictures of what shee looks like....

J-arms are always going to go through bushings though. I was changing mine out twice a year before I swapped over to A-arms. IMO its worth the time to do the conversion.
