jmd0346 Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Hey guys. I just got some new clamp-ons for my new 30mm kehien(more on that later) knockoffs. I guess I had a couple too many because I didnt notice when I ordered that the new ones are 1" shorter than my old ones. Same diameter. My question is do you think the smaller filters will have enough cfm for the 30mm carbs and my ported engine? If not ill send them back unless someone here wants them. Michael Quote

Yeah but one cylinder is pulling air at a time. So on a single the cylinder would be pulling its air from a much bigger filter than the ones I have on a dual setup. I could be wrong on that theory. I guess the balance tube could compensate for that...?? Quote
Banchetta Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Good call, I ran my shee on a dyno w/ the large filter and w/o the filter so it would be easier to try different setups and jetting w/o have to pull the filter every time....surprised there was no difference on the dyno w/ or w/o the large filter.....but to answer your question, I honestly cant w/o a dyno or seeing if your jetting changes w/ or w/o the filter...can you run it w/ the large filter? Try both and see if your plugs change....then you'll know if the twins are holding you back... Quote

It definitely matters what size filter you run. Just make sure your plugs are chocalate and not tan....the tan color can vary within 5 jet sizes, the chocalate color will vary within 1 jet size. Also make sure you do a plug test after a wot run in 6th gear for 5-10 seconds, pull the clutch, kill the motor, coast to a stop, pull the plug..... Quote

Ive tuned a few Banshee's/blasters. Im pretty anal about checking plugs. Ive had guys ask me " Why the hell do you keep flying down thorugh there and then pulling your plugs?" LOL! You'd be suprised how many people dont know about plug chops. Well actually Im sure you do. Just trying to get a ballpark for my jetting. Its definitley gonna take some time to get right. Quote
