87_shee Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 Hey guys.. I just picked up a set of cylinders that are currently at 65.5mm bore and A set of 66mm pro lites. It may be a stupid question but can stock cylinders be bored to 66mm or is that to big for the stock sleeves. The reason I am asking is because around here there are only 2 places to get my cylinders bored and 1 guy says that they can be bored with no problem and the other says they can't. So i figured somebody on here would be able to give me a straight answer. Thanks in advance. Quote

dajogejr Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 66mm is an .080 overbore. The bore many consider to be the last, safe bore on stock banshee cylinders. Yes, they can be done. However, wiseco makes a .090 and .100 kit for the banshee...but, your coolant jacket walls are pretty thin, that makes me real nervous running a ticking time bomb like that. My advice would be pickup a set of .080 pistons, bring them to the machine shop so they can match them to tolerances....I don't have a Clymers manual handy for exact piston to wall clearance specs... I hate WYO Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 i have run cylinders at .100 over stock and have had no problems at all Quote
dajogejr Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 i have run cylinders at .100 over stock and have had no problems at all I have run 3 lug nuts on a 5 lug nut wheel/hub... Not saying it won't work...just saying it's thin and I like to play it a little safer, that's all. Quote
Forcefed Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 (edited) .100 over isn`t a "ticking time bomb" lol ... and the oem service manual states .0024-.0026, however, it would be WISER to finish hone to the piston manufacturers recomendations as they know how much their product will swell. Stock cast pistons do not act like forged wiseco units ... they want .003. Edited January 23, 2007 by Forcefed Quote
