bakingpowder11 Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 So i just got some new pistons that were matched with my cylindars by the machine shop (CPI) but the ones i got are for a long rod. I am pretty sure i dont have longer rods. will they still work or do i need new ones? They are the Wiseco Long Rod Pistons. If someone could help me out that would be great. Quote
dajogejr Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 You need the correct pistons. IF the bike will run, it won't run well. The long rod pistons (795 series) will not go up into the cylinder as far as supposed to...so, you won't be squeezing the mixture as much. It might run, but it'll run like dog poop. Any shop would let you trade them for the correct bore/stroke piston, or simply return and exchange them for the correct ones... Quote
bakingpowder11 Posted January 19, 2007 Author Report Posted January 19, 2007 Thanks for the info i will have to go and switch them out with a shop... good thing i asked or i would have been out about 150 bucks or so. thanks a ton Quote
dajogejr Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 You could always just buy a stroker/long rod crank, spacer plate, cut the head.... Oh...nevermind. You'll be there one day, no need to prod ya now...LOL. No prob. Quote
bansheefreak Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 i hope you dont have a longrod.. cus its gonna smash normal pistons if it does.. did you get the numbers off your old pistons and order from them??? just need a bigger bore im sure but make sure your other pistons arent a 795 series.. dont sound like you know for sure whether you have a long rod or not so go off your old piston numbers... Snopczynski Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 So i just got some new pistons that were matched with my cylindars by the machine shop (CPI) but the ones i got are for a long rod. I am pretty sure i dont have longer rods. will they still work or do i need new ones? They are the Wiseco Long Rod Pistons. If someone could help me out that would be great. your gonna have compression squish issues and exhaust port height issues with a long rod piston and no long rod crank. They didn't give you a long rod crank did they? Cause you can get a long rod crank with a stock stroke. Quote
bakingpowder11 Posted January 23, 2007 Author Report Posted January 23, 2007 so i do have the standard rods. i just didnt know. i was thinking there was a difference but i wasnt sure. so i did get the new pistons they just traded me for the right ones... thanks for the help. Quote
