Master of Faster Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 My guess would be that there is a problem with the gears, if there is just a slight amount of wear on the engagement tabs on the gears they can kick apart when you're under power and bend forks, sometimes its very very hard to see that there is anything wrong. camatv Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 new gears, new shift drum, detent spring, shift shaft, shift arms and the guides.. should fix it also make sure you are not over tqing the drive sproket to the shaft... if the forks are bending the gears are wanting to "pop" out. the gears have to have worn engagement dogs OR yor drum is worn and its not holdng the gear all the way in and the for is the result.. sykoman Posted January 6, 2007 Author Report Posted January 6, 2007 Well I tore it apart this time but spoke to the guy who replaced it the last two times... he's been working on bikes for 18 years and swears there is nothing wrong with the gears... he's recomending I replace the shift drum so I'm gonna try and pick one up and get it back 2gether this weekend..... hope it goes well.....do u think I should relace 2ND AND 6TH?
