2001JLShee Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 Hey Guys, A while back I had to put a new clutch cable on my Shee because I snapped the cable practicing horseshoe drag runs. My brother picked up a cable from a dealer in Omaha that told him it was universal for yamaha or somethin retarded like that, it actually was long enough but now that I have the cable on my lever has a lot more in and out slop and the clutch feels weak, where do I adjust the cable because when I look at the clutch arm it gets pulled in far enough when I pull on the lever but when I release my lever the arm doesn't quite come back all the way, does the spring on the arm get weak and could be causing the clutch arm to not return all the way? Need some help, going home this weekend to ride my Shee for the 1st time in at least 2 months Quote

Look in your Clymer and if you dont have access to one tell me i will explain it to you. Quote
dajogejr Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 Without the clutch cable hooked up, push the arm it connects to under the left carb with your finger. The arrows should line up. If so....the clutch adjustment is fine. If not, you'll have to take the right side cover off, and adjust the screw/nut in the middle of the clutch basket. If it lines up properly when pushed, the only adjustment on the cable is at the lever itself. If the adjuster backs all the way out, and there is still slop, it's the wrong cable. You should have about 1/8 inch of free play at the end of the lever when it's adjusted properly and cold. Or...be able to put a nickel in between the lever and the perch before you feel it start to disengage. Hope this helps... Quote
