Ben Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 I lost the idle screw off my right carb. I bought a screw off bikebandit thinking it was the right one and it was not. I don't see the screw on the yamaha carb diagram... I can't find it anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Quote
dajogejr Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 Are these the stock carbs or after market? The idle control on the TORS or on the carb body itself? Quote
Ben Posted November 9, 2006 Author Report Posted November 9, 2006 Are these the stock carbs or after market? The idle control on the TORS or on the carb body itself? These are stock 28mm carbs off a 93 Banshee. It is the screws that are on the outside of both of the carb bodies. These are not the ones with the springs. Thanks again. I'll post a pick asap. Quote

Post the picture to be clear...but, you'll have to order a set of Idle Screw kits from Magic Racing, Rocky Mountain ATV, etc. The stock carbs do not come with idle screws on the carbs. Someone removed the TORS adjusters, drilled and tapped those screws for idle adjustment. They are the long, threaded brass type with a bullet rounded nose on the end, right? Quote

dajogejr Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 Don't think you're going to find them any cheaper than this: http://www.vitosperformance.com/atv_parts/...=372&page=1 Quote

Maybe your talking about a pilot screw. Quote

Stock carbs need a boss drilled out and tapped, they use a locknut to hold them in place. If it were after market carbs, you would be correct, they normally use a spring to hold the screw from backing out. Look at the link I provided above, it is exactly what he is looking for on the stock carbs.... Quote
Ben Posted November 10, 2006 Author Report Posted November 10, 2006 These have a lock nut that hold them from falling out. http://www.vitosperformance.com/atv_parts/...=372&page=1 these are the ones. Thanks. I was reading the manual and looked at the diagram that comes with it and didn't find the part. I think that these were probably drilled manually at some point. Is it possible until I figure out how to get the part sent here (I'm in Spain right now, and this is actually my friend's quad) to cover the hole and adjust the idle with the normal air screws? ... It's prob not going to run right but for the time being it might just do. Thanks. Quote

You can adjust the tops of the throttle cable to temporarily get by...but, you should have slack there too, for if you turn the bars, the RPMs will rise, not good. Honestly, do it right, do it safe, and get the right parts. Quote

It has already been ordered, but I have to wait for my brother in law to get here. The temperature out here is amazing (60F) and we live in the mountains with thousands of dirt trails... so we are just a bit impatient that's all. I got my mother to send me two complete rebuild kits, and it was a miracle I got them. I'm not sure if I understand well what you mean by the throttle adjustment, just tighten them a bit more when I sync the carbs? Maybe my best bet is to wait to get the part. Thanks for all of the responses. Ben. Quote
