racer Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 Anyone in here use Solidworks? Ive been playing with it a bunch lately and I want to try to model some parts, but im having trouble making patterns. I want to create a flange with 8, 3/8-24 holes tapped, but i havent figured out how to use the circle pattern command, and i dont even know if this is the right one to use in the first place. If you want, load up some drawings for some pointers. Thanks, Cole Quote
FireHead Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 I'll can crank you out an example today, but I am afraid the file would be too large to post. Let me know if you have any ideas as to how that I might send it to you. Quote
KlotzBanshee Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 I've used it a couple of times, but I didn't get much time to play around with it. Look for a polar array comand or something similar. Sorry, if it was AutoCAD, UG, or CATIA I could be more of a help. I work mostly with V4 and V5. good luck  Quote
okbeast Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 Never used solidworks but I just got done with ProE last semester. Some pretty cool stuff on it. Quote

Some pretty cool stuff on it. you should look into it. from what i hear Pro-E is much less user friendly than SW. Thanks Firehead, I dont really know of a good way to post the file either. Do you mind telling me what command to start with? I think if I find the right strating point ill be able to go from there. Quote

A circular array or pattern is how you get it done. The trick I believe, is having a centerline of the array drawn for construction. Let me know if that works for ya. Quote
