bansheefreak Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 (edited) if the right was clean that was the side the antifreeze was in.. just cus you put a head gasket on it dont meanit cant be head gasket again... or like ppl said a warped head... as for piston rings... the rings dont have anything to do with the white smoke... if your having white smoke its not cus on the rings... white smoke is water /antifreeze / which means cracked cyl, headgasket, and or warped head... dajogejr Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 I agree....cold water + hot engine =bad things. Take the head and cylinders off, check them for cracks, etc., and have them put on a straight edge and checked for flatness. If you have a flat piece of steel....you can get some 400 grit sandpaper, place the gasket side down on the paper/steel, and move it back and forth in a figure 8 motion, after 10 to 15 seconds, flip it over and look to see if the whole surface is "scuffed up" or if there's uneven spots on it. Then, take the cylinders off, remove the studs and quickly do the same.... It's coolant, no if ands or butts. Quote
