sheefreak Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 I wouldn't buy a jet kit. Waste of money. Buy the jets that you need, stock needle is plenty tunable for stock porting. What pilot and mains are you running w/those fattys? How is your airbox set up? Quote
tonyown Posted October 29, 2006 Author Report Posted October 29, 2006 I have an other topic here "your opinion for main jet" 270main all other stock... stock air box without cover... can I just add cover to make air restriction for temperature compensation or i have to rejet... I don't know any about jetting I never did it my self... the air screw scare me lol Quote
sheefreak Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 What is your elevation. Fatty's like a bigger pilot. If you are running a stock pilot, you should only be about a half turn out on your airscrews. Again this also depends on your elevation. I found at sea level, w/a K+N and no lid, between 300-320 main jets. Also lower the clip on your needle one notch. Quote
Bandit Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 (edited) I have fattys with a 260 main and stock pilot. with air screw turned out 1 1/2, and i have a hesitation right before powerband kicks in...so shoul i make a adjustment to pilot? oh i have k&n filter no snorkle and have the filtered holes in lid. Yes! I would go 27.5, and be between 1 and 2 turns out. You may possibly be a hair lean still on your main. You might even try lowering the clip on the needle one notch as well. The needle takes care of your middle jetting ckt. Quote
Bandit Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 thanks..I have a set of 27.5's and 270,280,and 290 mains. Quote
dajogejr Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 I agree...jet kits are a waste of money... Tony....I"m not trying to sound like a jerk, so please don't take it that way. But, it seems like you're asking us for your exact jetting specs so you can drop it in and ride. I think you've gotten enough advice to get you safely close... I'd error on the side of rich...to be safe, but....drop in the richest main you have, in this case 290....and go for a rip... I'm sure it's gonna run fine, but...from here it's time consuming and fine tuning!...and above all a valuable lesson and learning experience.... Quote
