Hunters and shooters got a question

I just bought a new rifle chamberd in 22-250. Im wonderin if this gun will be a good choice for whitetail deer. Thanx guys

Absolutely!!! You will have to check the minimum grain bullet you can use per state regulations and go from there. My brother in-law uses his 22-250 every year and leaves his 300mag under the bed. He uses some pretty hot hand loads and drops them in their tracks every time. Pretty crazy gun and actually does more internal damage than my 300mag I use. The big gun will just pass right through them without good expansion if you don't get a good shot. The 22-250 just explodes.

yeah man i use a browning a-bolt chambered in 22-250 for almost everything! i can go from long range target at a 1000 yards to dear hunting at 300yards wiht it. excellent cartridge with a really flat trajectory. if you have the knowledge you can do some hand loads and get that thing to drive tacks at over 1000 yards easy. if you are good enough wiht long shots you can save meat on the deer by doing a head shot. even if yo want to do a head mount.

It will work you just need to choose the right bullet and just be careful with it and make sure you have a clean shot, it being so fast and a small grain bullet it will deflect pretty easily. I personally have used a .270 for almost 10 years now and love it. If I ever buy another small caliber rifle it will either be a 22-250 or the 204.

I have a browning a-bolt as well (varmint). It's killed several paper targets and 1 sparrow at 300 yds. Just great guns!!

Exactly! For instance in Washington, you have to be .25 caliber or larger for big game.

Thanx guys thats what i was lookin for, i have used my 270 win short mag now for 2 seasons, but this new gun has a good feel i was drivin tacks at 200 with it the day i bought it with 55 grain factory core lokt loads, i like small fast rounds, i havnt shot my 22 mag once in the woods since i bought my .17 hmr which quickly became my fav varmint gun cant wait to take her our for turkeys this sat. O yeah ANY centerfire cartirige is legal for whitetail in PA i guess that means u could take a .17 rem out for em lol, but anyways thanx alot guys keep the info on the 22-250 comin, peace :beer:

i think in ks you cant use that gun cause its too small. not 100 % positive on it but something like that. been long time since i went hunting.

 

my dads 270 worked good for almost anything.

I use a 22-250 for coyotes, but not for big game. In Wyoming you have to have a caliber that is .243 or bigger to hunt big game.
