Mullet Man Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 i have a guy who will powder coat (high temp) my T5's for $50 a pipe. is this a good price? this includes, sandblasting, prep and powder coat. does not include stingers or silencers. hes gonna do them in HT gloss black and the "T5" lettering in HT silver and the springs in silver also. so is $50 eac a decent price for quality work? White06Shee Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 What Color Are the pipes now Quote
Mullet Man Posted October 19, 2006 Author Report Posted October 19, 2006 i just painted them with some VHT "Flameproof" high temp ceramic, aluminum color. 1 can each pipe, total of $16 my quad gets dirty and the pipes always end up looking like shit with dirt on'em Quote
White06Shee Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 My Friend Had His Pipes Powder Coated black and after a couple of weeks of hard Riding, his pipes started to turn almost white at the bends, but i have heard if you spray that high heat temp stuff itside your pipe it doest turn that weird color, but i would say go with jetcoat or something like that and with that it also makes the pipes run cooler but thats just my 2cents Quote
bones Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 (edited) I'd recommend getting them JET-HOT coated. I had a quote to get my two FMF SST's done in flat black, it was around $215.50 total. That includes shipping (back to you), prepping (Removing the chrome), JET-HOT base coat, then the black color on top. www.jet-hot.com Price Breakdown: JET-Hot Coat $135 Outside only black MS $20 Chrome fee $40 Shipping: $34 - 10% internet discount $13.50 I didn't get it done yet simply b/c Im still comtemplating the price. I only paid $250 TOTAL for brand new FMF SST pipes and silencers (Im a good ebay shopper). So Im debating if I want to spend almost as much to have brand new chrome removed for flat black. The reason I want them black is b/c I have an '06 SE ALL black Banshee and I dont want chrome on it. No other reason. Edited October 20, 2006 by bones Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Did you ever end up with the powder coat on the pipes? That's a good price right there! Quote
Mullet Man Posted December 10, 2006 Author Report Posted December 10, 2006 (edited) Did you ever end up with the powder coat on the pipes? That's a good price right there! no, i never did. i have some money coming in so i might do it soon. (i blew the PC money on some YFZ450 a-arms ) "LFTD4R" had his pipes PC'd by the same guy. (i think his were FMF's) there is a huge thread over @ www.yotatech.com forums with lots of pictures/info of all the stuff he has done. including pics of the banshee pipes. LiftdT4R Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 (edited) Yeah, I have a guy down in VA that did mine, I only had like 3 rides on them before I put on my SSTs, and it held up very very well. Make sure you get the high temp stuff, it's rated to 1100 Edited December 10, 2006 by LiftdT4R Quote
Mullet Man Posted December 20, 2006 Author Report Posted December 20, 2006 i got some extra $ coming in right now. i think i am finally going to send my pipes (chamber to silencer) off too him to get PC'd. i think i'm going to go with HT black and have the 'T5' lettering done in silver. Quote
