DaFish Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 i installed a noss coolhead with 21cc domes and v-force 3's a while back and now sometimes it takes a couple kicks to start hot or cold. can someone give me some advice please. thanks. Quote
okbeast Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Might need to go up 1 size on your pilot jets if you haven't yet. What is your elevation/riding temp.? Quote
dajogejr Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Actually.... You normally only have to lean out the needle one clip from VForce installations. And that's only some of the time. Let's get back to basics. What are your current mods, altitude and riding temps. Next, what kind of carbs and what jets are in them now? Pilot, needle/clip and main jet? You said now...as in it ran fine before.... Reed Valves don't effect the low speed/pilot circuit...much, anywho. Did it recently get colder where you're at, as in like a good 30 degree drop in temps or so? Have you tried adjusting the air screws... And of course, two last things. Carbs may be dirty, or...it might be time to freshen up the top end.... Quote
DaFish Posted October 20, 2006 Author Report Posted October 20, 2006 It runs really strong, it's just the starting. i have 300 mains, 27.5 pilots, needle on the 3rd clip, (stock needle). From the time it was dynoed to put he mods on to riding it was a temp increase of 30 degrees. riding temp was 100 and when it got dynoed it was 73 in the room. Elve. is sea level to 1000 ft. like glamis and parker az. Top end is fresh and carbs were clean. Stock carbs all my mods are in my sig. Quote

My 2-stroke bike WON'T start cold, when the plug is going,,,and it gets hard to start warm. Fresh plug, it usualy fires 1st or 2nd kick cold and always 1st kick warm. My Shee just takes more kicks to start, but will still fire-up and run strong when the plug is going. New plug and it will fire 3-4 kicks cold, 1st or 2nd warm. (I've got idle mixture on Shee just a tad lean, because I put-put with wife and kids sometimes. I think that may be why it usualy takes more kicks to start. Been working though, I have to do a lot of idling before it kills a plug.) Quote
