Hubie000
I know this has been mentioned before (i can't get the "search" to work) My stock carbs are leaking. I know i need to adjust the floats but... here's my question.... when i'm holding the carb in my hand upsidedown(bowl side up) do i bend the floats up a little bit or down??? I think i read somewher they need to be about 21mm...i've tried that w/o any luck... it's getting worse and more anoying... any help is appreciated. dajogejr
You can eyeball them. Upsidedown, if the bottom of the floats are level, you're ok. Try removing the floats, needle and the seat and clean them up real good. The float height isn't THAT sensitive....but, a dirty needle and seat will pour out the gas no matter what height the float is set at. You know, at 21mm you're supposed to measure from the gasket surface itself, NOT the outer rim, right?
Hubie000
yeah, that's how i measured them. i'll check the "levelness" of the bottom of the float itself. i wanna say that they are bent "down" a little....maybe thats the problem.. thanks for the reply
dajogejr
Bent down a little....would cause more gas in the bowl. However, you measured it correctly by what it sounds like. Yeah, I'd try cleaning that needle and seat a little better...bet that makes the difference.
