DaveVato Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 I am putting together my banshee, I have a trinity 421 kit with 35mm carbs w/ K&N's. I have a set of DMC 916 pipes and they wont fit on there with the carbs and K&N's. Any one with this setup know which pipe will fit these? Of course I am pretty sure the Stage IV trinity pipes will fit.... Quote
Big Blue Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 There shouldnt be any reason why they wont fit. Quote
DaveVato Posted October 4, 2006 Author Report Posted October 4, 2006 There shouldnt be any reason why they wont fit. The K&N's are rubbing on the pipes, the right carb is actually hitting the pipe and has to be turned side ways. I am going to go mess with some more tonight, but its not looking good. Quote
okbeast Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 You may need to get some of the K&N's that are angled so you'd be able to route them away from the pipes. Quote

dajogejr Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 Jeff @ FAST Racing...where I got mine from. Of course...once I got my RDZ/Shearer inframes, I no longer needed 'em angled. If that doesn't work, Cascade sells exhaust "Wraps" that go over the stinger tubes so you don't melt your pods or outerwears... Quote

I would like some shearer/rocket/cpi type pipe sometime in the near future, but I would have to sell the 916's first, and I love them.... dajogejr, what pipes were you running before your shearers? Did the shearers make a noticable difference on that engine? Quote

dajogejr Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 dajogejr, what pipes were you running before your shearers? Did the shearers make a noticable difference on that engine? I had stock carbs and T5s on my cub, along with a 100% stock ignition. I did it all, new coil, wires, Dyna CDI, Shearers and 35PWKs. WORLDS of difference... cubs gotta lot of power, but T5's can't even begin to think about making the power up top and pull forever like shearers do.... Not knocking T5s...I loved mine. But they're truly apples and oranges. Quote

What do you think of CPI pipes, those are about the only thing in my range, should I hold off for RDZ? you also could shim your pipes out a little to I think these pipes are way beyond shimming.. I have tried several ways, turn one carb and getting angled K&N's are about the only way I can think to get it to work Quote
spike Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 What do you think of CPI pipes, those are about the only thing in my range, should I hold off for RDZ? chek on ebay, there is a guys that sells shearer for really cheap and shipping is also really cheap, I bought a set of inframes last week for 399$ but he raised is prices to 449$ this week, still inexpensive though. Big Blue Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 Think there will be a performance hit if I bend or dent the left pipe a little to make it fit?? When I had my cpi's and shearers I had to have one carb tilted to keep it from hitting the pipe. Just leave the carb turned a litte it wont hurt anything, as for the filters get some high temp hose and put over the stinger tubes. Quote
