the skin doctor Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 i changed the oil on my shee today and everything was fine.i also took out the plugs to check them [i rode 2 x on new ones] and the bottom and inside was black.the one on the left side had gas on it. why is this happening? it is also still smoking on the right side but not as bad. when i checked the pressure out of the rear pipes the one on the left side didnt have as much pressure.whats that from? i even switched the plug wires around and it was the same outcome. can anyone shed some light on this for me? i rode it throgh the parking lot and it still came up in the air fine and it had good power. as far as the smoking right side people have told me that the crank seal is going bad.after it warmed up most of the smoking went away.why is that? i would think that if the seal is going bad there would be oil on the right plug[theres none, just the black]. also at idle there is a pinging sound. please help me out.i dont want to have to split the cases if i dont have to. :: Quote
dajogejr Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 This should've been in the "fixin" forum...not General Discussion. You need to do two things....check cranking compression, then do a leak down test. Pinging sound? Yeah....stop riding that bike. There is one thing I can promise you...the longer you ride it like that, the more it's going to cost to fix when it goes boom. And it will. Get a compression test and leak down test done....or it'll cost you more later. I'd bet by now you have a few problems, crank seal is sucking fluid and air, it's starting to ruin your crank, and a piston is starting to come apart....that'd be my guess. Quote
