I did a search on here for dmc 916's. It seems like everyone likes them, but one person said the silencer will scrape before the grab bar during a wheelie. Does the silencer really stick out that far? Can someone confirm or deny this? Pics wouldn't hurt either

Ellison, you were the one that said you have to cut the silencers to avoid the scraping even with a grab bar. You said that is what you were going to do

Stock swinger no

-2 swinger yes

 

I shortened my silencer on my 916's an inch or so and now it won't hit with a -2. This is assuming stock grab bar, if you have an aftermarket one it better be the same or longer.

Thanks, I plan on getting a -2. Where did you take an inch out of the silencer? just outta the middle?

Remove the end cap, cut an inch or so out of the muffler and then drill new holes for the end cap, re-attach the endcap and you're good to go.

I didn't notice any differences except it seems slightly louder.
