okbeast Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Traded my 400ex for a banshee yesterday and it was a bit dirty still (and I'm really anal) so I took it to the carwash and washed the crap out of it. I sprayed degreaser all over it and washed it for about 10 minutes probably, then flipped it up on end and washed the underneath. I then went out and tried to start it today, and nothin, checked the plugs for fire and I'm not gettin anything. I took the stator cover off and it's a bit wet inside, could this be the reason it's not gettin fire? Any advice is appreciated! Quote
[email protected] Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 well if you pin pointed the problem down to no spark , start by checkin out the hole electrical system , water and banshees dont mix , my guess is the stator or coil . Quote
okbeast Posted September 5, 2006 Author Report Posted September 5, 2006 I'm guessin it's just a wet stator. I forgot to mention that when we tested the plugs the right one (when sittin on bike) did fire the 1st time we tried it, but after we switched the plugs around to see if that would change anything it didn't fire. I'm guessin its just got some water where it doesn't like. I guess I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and what have you done to fix it? Quote
bertski077 Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 i just got done the SAME THING over this weekend...check the t.o.r.s system...also i got water drier and sprayed over all connections... good luck. Quote
[email protected] Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 if you still got your tors connected remove it , if you dont know how heres a link to my walk thru sorta http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...mp;#entry557013 Quote
okbeast Posted September 6, 2006 Author Report Posted September 6, 2006 So what's the difference in the TORS eliminator kit and what you describe there? P.S. Tried starting it again today when everything is dry and it still won't turn over. I'm going to check and see if I'm getting fire later. If the TORS is acting up would i not be getting fire? Quote
Animalman294 Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Damn Chase, you may need to see someone about those anger management issues :yelrotflmao: Nice "how to" though................ Quote
Justintoxicated Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Make sure you still have the rubber plug for the stator cover (goes inbetween stator and sprocket and that there are no cracks in the rubber gasket as well. Then the only real problem for water would be the Sleeve for the wiring harness. Quote
okbeast Posted September 6, 2006 Author Report Posted September 6, 2006 Just went out and checked to see if the stator was dry and when I took the cover off I saw a bunch of condensation in there, so I propped the cover open and hopefully it'll dry out. Before that I checked to see if I had spark and still didn't, so I'm guessing wet stator is the problem right now. Quote

If thats not helping one bit , start lookin at that wet stator. Something about a safety features i dont like..... If i wanted safety features i would of bought some 4 poke joke Quote
okbeast Posted September 6, 2006 Author Report Posted September 6, 2006 I read through it yeah but I'm up at school and don't have time to completely tear it out. What can I just "disconnect" to disable it to see if that's the problem, and if that fixes it can I just leave it disconnected (and the bike run right) until I have time to pull it off. Quote

sheefreak Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Little black box underneath the gas tank. Should be black and yellow wires, unplug it. And yes, you can just leave it unplugged. Really all the tors elimination kit does is give you new carb tops to replace the bulky stock ones. Quote
okbeast Posted September 6, 2006 Author Report Posted September 6, 2006 Ok, disconnected all the tors shit and checked the left plug 1st...it had a really weak fire (could see it a bit but didnt feel it) so went to check the right. Kicked it a few times and finally got some fire (felt it bigtime). So I hopped on and started kicking the shit out of it, it would try to start a few times then go back to nothing....and finally it fired up. Problem now is that it's idling HIGH and not consistent at all. What now? Wait, I adjusted the throttle way out when I got it b/c he said it wouldn't idle...maybe that's it, be right back. Well adjusted the throttle back in and that fixed that. It's still runnin a little rough but I'm thinkin the plugs might be fouled from all the kickin and no fire. It's also stayin revved up a bit longer then I think it should when you give it gas, but it still eventually comes back down to the right idle rpm, what is causing that? Quote
