DUB Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 I got these set of carbs from a guy that bored them out. i.d they are 1.132" which if im correct they are 28.7mm. Now the side of the carbs say PWK but I thought that pwk's have the round plastic screw- on top. mine are not round and are held down with two small screws. Maybe I just have some early carbs?? know on the side of them they have "73 RAB KJ" anybody familiar?? Quote
1952 Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 The 28mm PWK's have a flat top with 2 screws. Quote

banshee04le Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 im running 55 on the pilot and 165 on the mains and the needle on the bottom notch. does this sound close?? I'm at about 900ft elevation and I would probably try a 45 pilot and one or two smaller on the main. Try a 152 and if it runs better try a 145. If it starts to cackle or pop a little in 5th or 6th full throttle, then you are too lean. Don't run it too long like that, jet up one size at a time until it pulls hard and clean. You want to find where it just starts to run lean, and then come up one size on the jet for the best performance. On the needle, when you say bottom notch, do you mean that you have them dropped lean with the clip towards the blunt end or raised rich with the clip towards the pointy end? If you have them raised rich all the way up, you definitely want to drop them leaner for better throttle response and power at part throttle. Quote

banshee04le Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 i have the clip closest to the pointy end of the needle. by the way, im only running at the beach (0 ft.) Towards the pointy end means that you are fat (rich) on the needle. The air is a little denser at sea level so maybe the 165 might be just right. If you like the way it pulls wot at full load, I would leave the main where it's at. If there is anything that you don't like about the way it gets on the pipe, I would try lowering the needles (raising the clip) if I was you. I would go all the way to the other extreme with the clip position on the first try and see if it is better or worse, and then maybe try it in the middle and fine tune it from there. That is unless you are totally happy with the way it is running now. Quote
o2sandshee Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 i have got those same carbs and they work awesome. im at 1000ft w/ 145 mains, it screams. :baseball_w00t: Quote
