rkc Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 (edited) It's probably a little harder to diagnose a problem if a you do 2 mods at once effecting the same mechanics. Anyways I'm looking for help again. I installed a used set of V force reeds (3's) and reinstalled stock carbs with modified slides. Also I went to a smaller pilot jet, 27.5 from a 30(it started better with the 30's but was running rich with air screws turned out 1.5) because I was aticipating more efficent air flow.I have no porting, but I do have a cool head w/ 20mm domes @ 156psi per cylinder. It starts first kick even when cold (happy about that), but its reving very high now.I got it to come down a little by turning the air screws in and idle screws out, but not enough. 30 pilots always seemed a little rich for what I have, but should I reinstall them?I hope I,m not sucking air by a leak! I also have fatties & prodesign air filter w/ no air box. Another question is when I posted earlier about cold starting someone said to turn air screws out 1/2 half to 3/4out from seated postion(it worked) but was told not to leave air screws there. I never asked why not? Is it possible that now their is so much more air flow that their is not enough gas to go with it? If thats true no wonder everybody praises flat slides or D slides!
