bigboybanshee Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Big motor for big guy. I was running out of gear at the end of the track. 18/36 gearing with 1-5 over ride. 535 cc motor with alot more in it . Just started tunning it. The previous owner of the motor had only gone 6.4 et and he weights 185 lbs. When I was launching the bike I could feel the tires spinning. I had a friend watching and he confirmed what I had felt. I am running Hoosiers 65-10-10 D15 compund. +10 swingarm with wheelie bar of course. Stock lightened frame by me. Stock flywheel and ignition parts except for Dave Moore Racing TnT ignition box. That's awesome man!! Can't wait to see your progress, you're off to a damn good start! Quote
trex banshee Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 Wish mine ran that good! But I need to learn to ride the one I have now, I am gonna go back this friday I think and try it again. I got my whole rear carrier chain situation fixed and geared it a little lower so I am anxious to see what it will do. I will keep ya posted! Quote
race-a-holic Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Be careful not to gear it too low because you'll top out before you ever get to the finishline. Quote

bigboybanshee Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 I think that gearing will be fine, I'm guessing you'll probably end up at the top of 5th or just in 6th. I look forward to hearing how it goes! I'm gonna try and get to the track again real soon and see if I can improve some on my times Quote

I'm gonna try and get to the track again real soon and see if I can improve some on my times Well yeh you might be right, it all depends on how i can get off the line I have been outside my house practicing slipping the clutch some but its really hard cause my road is chip and seal and it will just burn out if i don't do it right. But last friday I was at 17/41 and was just at the end of fifth and now I am at 15/42 so we will see how it goes. If I can just cut my 60ft time down i will be happy cause I know I am not going to run no 7's I am hoping to just get low 8's. But we will see! Quote
trex banshee Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 well I had some bad luck last night at the races. On my first run I got off the line alot better than last week with a reaction time of .107 and a 60ft time of 2.009 but then my clutch cable broke and I couldn't get it to shift very well but i got it out of third into fourth but no more. so i let off alot and tried shifting with no luck. I only got to run once but their is always next week my new cable is on order. I ended up running a 9.774 at 67.08mph. Just wish I could get one decent run with no flaws, but I was happy that I am getting better on the take off. Quote
Slow Banshee Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 Got the Banshee out of the shop today. Changed from the stock cylinders to the cubs and changed the CC's from 417cc to 443cc. Hope to improve on the best 1.4 mile time of 10.91 and best mph at 113. We will find out on 11 Aug. Quote

Where i race it doesn't matter what you have as long as you have all of the safety stuff, but it is just for fun no points or winnings or anything. Quote

Where i race it doesn't matter what you have as long as you have all of the safety stuff, but it is just for fun no points or winnings or anything. there are some nhra tracks that allow quads to run but they must be stock chassis.i know also rules vary from track to track.at one track you must run slicks or dot approved and the next don't care what tires you run.almost all the tracks are starting to require heel guards or nerf bars as a safety precaution in case your feet come off the pegs. it would be nice to see nhra and ihra come up with a set of rules that are used at all asphalt tracks.
