1995 shee popping

I have a 1995 banshee with k&n filter with no lid and v force reeds, the shee seems to make a real bad popping noise once it hits the top of the powerband, i have no tors system any more, and the spark plugs are a chocolate brown color, all electrical is new except the stator. any help would be appreciated

iv'e had that happen several times, and it's always been the plugs.i pull the plugs and they look fine, but when i install new plugs the popping stops. it can also be a lean condition.
