Just wondering if anyone has figured out a good way to keep chrome exhaust from rusting.

My T5's got so bad I couldn't stand them just got new Shearer's and want to keep them shiny.

I ride pretty much only in the sand and I clean the bikes after every ride.

You can use the plugs to help keep the moister out of them, and clean them alot.Thats why i love stainless its the best thing trinitys ever done.

I'll have to try this wd40 trick, is this what alot of the guys on here do?

Any recommended chemicals for cleaning?

Neverdull....works wonders.

I've heard Shearers come in standard and show chrome. The standard isn't the best chrome out...

Just keep 'em clean and dry...and WD40 works well, too!!

Really? I've been running my T5's for a year and a half and still have people asking me if they are brand new. After I wash down my bike I always dry and then steel wool (#0000) my pipes. Like I said, still look brand new. Do you ride in muddy spots? The only spot where I could see having problems is by the top pipe mount, maybe.

hey guys, I started a post like this one about my PCs. Wanted to know if it is possible to polish to the point of removing the chrome? They could use some serious polishing but in some spots the metal looks rough.

Yeah that the same thing I did on mine, also tried using buffing wheels with chrome rouge polish.

year after year they slowly started to get more scratched and rusty looking, but mostly on the

backside and hard to reach spots. Also, I have been running these pipes from 01' to current, in

oregon dunes mostly, I also get caught in some pretty nasty weather every now and then- not afraid to ride in a monsoon if I have to. So the salty water and moisture all over everything probably doesn't help.

Also, in response to the other guys Q. I'm pretty sure there is nickle plating under chrome plating.

So, if polish to agressively I'm sure you will get to this and they will duller like mine. :baseball_wibble:
