shock/strut for sand drags

whats a good shock or strut for sand drags, im running a +6 swing arm. my buddies been riding my bike and he's about 300, so my exhaust is almost rubbing my chain. its also a 98 shee so im sure the shock is gone. how much does a marvin shaw cost??

i had the same problem you descrbied and heres how i went around it...find a pole , wether its a street sign or something thats strong , and cut it to size and drill hols thru it ....

 

call it a rig , i call it a drag strut

thats what im talking about!!!! ive seen alot of bikes that has that aftermarket set up-LOL-.

 

i always thought that was more of a pavement trick. you know the sand isnt flat and your going to need some suspention. how does yours ride on some bumpy sand? bumpy!!!

 

i thought about going that route ,but i wanted to ask around first.

 

anyone else run a strait bar setup?

so you dont know about sand dragging with that set up?? i see you have a lock out clutch on your bike, how does that work. sorry i always see them but im not sure how they work.

they're bad ass for drag , imo i would not have them on a daily trail bike/dune bike . because they well lock up and make it hard for clutch'in shiftin... really have to let off the throttle a tad to tap the clutch n shift... unless u got a tranny over ride........ i cant put it into words..... Dont get one unless u really need the lockup capabilities for hard launches, thats all i see them good for .

If you are not going to be running a groomed track a strut is a bad idea especially dragging out on the flats at the dunes.

why? does the marvin shaw struts not give to much? this bike almost all drag racer. i have a kfx400 to play on. but... ive seen people race and hit a bump and all 4 wheels come off the ground. + im running on sand bars,and yes there are groomed tracks but more sand bar grudge raceing.

I run sand drags with a strut on the rear of mine, It seems like it would be rough as hell, but its not really too bad (if the track is groomed well). when the small bumps start to form you are usually going so fast that you kind of just skip over the top of them, and dont even feel them.

 

If your gonna be riddin in rougher sand its prolly best to go with a marvin shaw. marvins are a lot stiffer than the stock shock.
