STLBILL Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 I attended my first-ever sand drag last night. I was driving home, the lights were on, people were there so I stopped by and really liked it! I've seen a couple guys riding at St. Joe State Park before, but the timers and such really put it into perspective. Geesh! They did not look THAT fast until some of the modified stock machines ran. It was kind of hard to follow without a scoreboard or program guide, but I think the fastest guy ran about a 4.08. The design of his Banshee sticks in my mind. He had no plastic. Just an orange frame and he primed the nitrous as he staged. Maybe someone here knows him (or her!?!?). I don't know how long the track was - probably the standard 1/8 mile or whatever. It was Big River Sand Drags or Mid River Sand Drags. Two exits North of St. Joe State Park on Hwy 67. I think it is the Bonne Terre Exit. Quote
Animalman294 Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Sand drags are cool to watch, but if you ever get a chance to watch snowmobile asphalt drag racing check, it out. Those things are quick, cool as hell to watch............. Quote

Those things are quick, cool as hell to watch............. never seen sleds on asphalt but we have a place here that runs 500ft grass drags for sleds and quads through out the summer.they are pretty impressive running the grass track.they hit 95-100 mph in 500 ft grass.i've ran there with the shee a few times and draggin on grass is different.the run the drags all winter too but only the sleds show up when its cold and snowing.
