yamahakid1 Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 when i turn my handlebars right or left my tires turn really sharp almost like theyre close to perpendicular with my bike. I guess u could say they lock up toowhen u turn it too sharp. what does this mean? Quote
blueshee03 Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 sounds like that stop is bent or broke off.look at the bottom of the steering stem there is a stop welded on there to keep the steering from turning to far .if it is bent or missing i'd get it fixed if i were you. Quote
Wallrat Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 Follow your tie rods in to where they connect to the steering stem. There's a bearing there and the frame has a 3/8" tab welded on towards the front of the bike. The stem has 2 "ears" that stick out and hit this tab when you turn too sharp. Your tab is either bent to shit or worn down. If its bent, get a chunk of 3/4 steel pipe and a BFH. Slide the pipe in from the front near the bumper until it rests on that tab. Then beat the shit outta the pipe w/ the BFH to bend the tab back in place. Re-weld it back in place. Might be a good idea to gusset it as well. Quote
