justinklumb29 Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 My headlights have not been working for a while now. I tested for resistance between the yellow and black wires that come out of the stator (the connectors by the air box) and there was none. I am assuming that i need a new stator i just wanted to double check before i buy one Thanks Justin Quote
Wallrat Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Might be the stator, but could also be the switch or the wiring. I'd check those first to save some cash. If you look at the wire harness coming out of the stator you'll see 2 free wires - one black, one yellow. Test the voltage on those (they're AC btw). If you've got voltage then it isn't your stator. justinklumb29 Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 I did check those wires and there was no voltage that is why i believe that it is the stator i just wanted someone to confirm it before i spend the money Quote
Wallrat Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Engine was running when you checked for voltage right? Also you unplugged the wires before testing? Quote
thegroup Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 http://www.cascadeinnovations.net/ these guys have "Ricky Stator" Stator for sale at $125. got mine from here Quote
justinklumb29 Posted March 22, 2006 Author Report Posted March 22, 2006 the engine was not running when i tested, however i went over to my other shee and tested the same wires without it running and the meter showed resistance. I guess i will check again with the engine running? Is this a common problem in shees though? Quote
Wallrat Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 Lighting problems are pretty common. Bad stators...not so much. I mean it happens but its somewhat rare. Quote
