Ok im new to bashees, but here is my problem. When i got the quad it was basically covered with sand so i took it completely apart and redid the entire quad. I took the carbs totally apart and cleaned them out and replaced all the jets in them. Now, the quad runs amazing, absolutly no problems at all. But, if you put your hand in front of the exhaust outlets, the right cylinder is running noticably colder then the left cylinder. It does it at part throttle and full throttle. I did a compression check and both cylinders were equal. When i rebuilt the carbs i set them both exactly the same, or so i thought. Do you think this could be a carb problem? And if so i assume that cylinder is running richer, but why would this be if both carbs are set exactly the same? Thanks

Could be an air leak, could be a water pump. Both are serious if that's indeed what it is. Get a can of carb cleaner, start up the bike, and hose down the intakes between the cylinders and the carbs (especially on the left side). You wanna listen for the rpms to pick up. If they do, you have an air leak and you'll need to replace the intake boots. If no air leak is detected, then you may have sheared your water pump. The stock ones are plastic and on occassion will seperate from the metal shaft that drives them. Billet ones can be purchased for $70 or so and will also cool better. Pick up a clymers to find out how to get access to the water pump impeller.

I agree with Wallrat. It's one or possibly both of those things if you're really unlucky. Do the air leak test and if that's not it then concentrate on your water pump. If all else fails, open your carbs back up and verify that they are indeed set up the same. Same jets, same needle position, same needles, same float heights, etc.

Doesn't one side run (a little) hotter than the other without a problem? Curious because I have been told one side runs a tad hotter than the other due to the design (of coolant flow)..
