iceman Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 what have you done to the engine. you have to convert your carbs to alcohol. but it doesnt make a whole lot of sense if you dont have the right engine. Quote
CrazSandDrager Posted February 25, 2006 Author Report Posted February 25, 2006 its pretty much stock except pipes if i dont put it on acohol wut should be my next step for hoppin it up? Quote
banshee332 Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 (edited) I would port your cylinders Edited February 25, 2006 by banshee332 Quote
Chemical Castration Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 You just need to convert your carbs, and get a pingel petcock. I had a fried that ran 4.5's on a stock port 350 on alky. You can convert them yourself or have a builder do it for you. It probably would be a good idea to set your bike up to do whatever you want (porting, chassis mods, bigger carbs, blah blah blah blah) and convert it to alky after. Quote
daryn c Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 becareful .. alcahol will rust your engine Quote

2bzy2p Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 ya there are alot of other mods u can do that u should do.. that will make u faster than just putting it on alky u do some of the other mods just on gas and u would be faster then to go straight to alky now,, but for an answer u would have to change domes in your head and convert your carbs which if their stock i wouldnt recomend to alky.. i would go get bigger gas carbs, port your cylindars get a head, and so forth other than going to alky Quote
iceman Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 and why do you wanna run alcohol? are you strictly dragging? usually only draggers are gonna run alky. not a good idea if you do anything besides dragging. Quote
race-a-holic Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 Get the cylinders ported, more compression(either shave the stock head or go with a aftermarket head),Bigger carbs will help but not absolutely necessary, timing plate to advance the timing, and having the crank welded would be a good idea. You'll be surprised how much faster it will be. Unless you're just drag racing,I'd keep it on gas.Alky bikes really put the fuel away. They go through fuel twice as fast as gas burners. No joke. Quote
racer Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 youre probably gonna melt a topend when youre trying to jet it, so factor in that price as well. Quote
Too Many Toys Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 I wouldn't recommend running Alky until you have more mods done to your bike like these other guys have mentioned. What kind of pipes do you have? Maybe go to a set of inframe drag pipes. I am assuming you must race alot to even consider running alky? I would definitely have the cylinders ported first and advance the timing. Then some bigger carbs, better reeds, extend your swingarm. After that if you still want to run alky maybe consider a cub top end. I would switch to alky after you have done everything and gas is still not cutting it. just my 02 Quote

Didn't he sell that? I remember him telling me stock port 350 that was kickin ass. Then I asked...HOW? Alky was the answer. The only real draw back I can think of running alcohol is you have to purge your engine with gas so the alcohol doesn't start to oxidize the aluminum. Alcohol is some corrosive shit under the right circumstances. We have some in the shop we clean with and it will melt plastic if its not resistant. 1 Quote
