jmurrayR6 Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 Had a problem spark I was not getting any. Got all electrical stuff checked. Everything was fine. Took the throttle cover off and there is a black little box the the throttle sitting up agaist. Held the throttle open and ive got all the spark in the world. What is that little box for and how to I make it so its not hitting it. Everything is there. Mabey If I understood what the thing does I could understand it better. Anyone is there a newb hotline or something. Quote

It is a microswitch that helps the TORS unit verify if the throttle (at the thumb switch) is either closed or open, it can then compare it to the slide position and shut down the ignition if it detects a mismatch. However, if you've got a TORS elim kit, but you have this condition, it sounds like you must not have removed all the TORS system. If you replaced the tops, it would not have the sensors to determine slide position, and could thus be disabling the spark. Did you unplug the black box, across from the coil, parking brake connection (looks like a cigarette lighter plug), and your thumb throttle switch. Oh and when you remove the thumb throttle switch I would recommend splitting the rubber grommet with a utility knife or razor blade, sealing the hole left with some black RTV silicone, and reinstall it. Good luck Quote
jmurrayR6 Posted February 21, 2006 Author Report Posted February 21, 2006 O you have to disconnect the little black box i did not try this I will do it now. Quote
jmurrayR6 Posted February 21, 2006 Author Report Posted February 21, 2006 ok that fixed that.. nice but..... im still having the problem of my left clinder not running Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 Assuming the left cylinder has spark, you need to look at fuel next. It runs now correct, but your losing the left cylinder? At idle, midrange top? You could have a plug pilot on the left carb, or it could be a couple other things. Guess we need to know exactly where you're at with it right now... Quote
jmurrayR6 Posted February 21, 2006 Author Report Posted February 21, 2006 Ive been talking about this on another topic area, and im at the point where I have spark. Gas is going into the carbs but I think there is a plugg in the carb somewhere. Took the pipes off to see if the pisten is moving up and down it is. Its getting spark. So the only thing it could possibly be is the gas. At any rpm it is not working. left pipe gets hot and smokes right side stays cold and doesnt smoke at all. So I though I would have someone look at the carb. Quote
