jjfizzle51 Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 hey i did a comp. test last week and it read 120 when i should be at 155 160. what do i need to get it up just rings or do i need to do the whole thing pistons ect. thanks Quote
wesw Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 most do a rebuild when the cylinders are more than 10% difference between the 2. it also depends on your elevation Quote
blueshee03 Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 your compression has a few more factors beside the rings.domes size ,altitude .if you had 155-160 and it has dropped that much then i'd recommend pulling the topend off and checking it out .if you never had that much then maybe its just fine and a change of domes will boost it up.you won't know if you need just new rings or new pistons ,maybe rebored or what ever till you tear it down and check it out.if its been awhile or has seen alot of hard running tearing it down and checking it out won't hurt anything. jjfizzle51 Posted January 25, 2006 Author Report Posted January 25, 2006 my elevation is about 4500 so it should be higher with the head im thinking its probley just the rings just cause its fairly new its a 2 year old motor thanks for the help though Quote
