MILO Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 of course air has weight. basically any substance known to man has been weighed and measured, and given an atomic mass. unless in a vacuum, or a total absence of gravity, there will be 'weight' to any substance. the weight of common air is so minute that you need a considerable amount compressed into a manageble container to notice any difference in weight, therefore within the range of an atv tire's inflation, it is insignificant and inflating/deflating has no purpose other than maintaining the structural integrity of the tire. i agree with the only reason for doing so for shipping purposes is safety related due to expansion/compression in different altitudes or temps, or simply to compress the tire to make a slightly smaller package. attempts for any other result just shows the amount of air in the person's head. Cotton eyed Joe Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 The weight of our atmosphere at sea level is 14.7lbs per square inch. This is pressure but it is pressure from static weight of air. 1 cubic foot of air at standard temperature and pressure assuming average composition weighs approximately 0.0807 lbs. Anybody want to see the math on that? 455206[/snapback] I saw the math to shit like that 13 years ago in my chemistry classes. I don't give a fuck how much a MOLE is anymore. Quote

A mole is equal to Avogadro's number which is 6.023214199 x 10 to the 23rd power particles (or in Gas terms 22.4 L @ 1 atm) .. A number so high that (theoretically) if each person were given a mole of pennies when we're born and we spend a $1000 an hour... we still won't spend even HALF of the wealth when we die.. But yes.. every element or particle has a mass..Which goes back to the Atomic thoery of Matter... Now think.. what is light?.. energy or matter.. or both?
